Default Buffalo Bills Picks

Rd 1 - 012 - Marshawn Lynch RB, California

BIOGRAPHY: Pac-10 Offensive Player of the Year last season after posting 203/1,245/9 on the ground and 31/311/4 receiving. Posted nearly identical numbers of 1,246 yards rushing and 10 touchdowns as a sophomore.

POSITIVES: Explosive ball carrier with terrific size and speed. Runs with good lean, has a burst of speed and does not go down without a fight. Makes defenders miss and possesses outstanding open-field skills.

NEGATIVES: Not overly creative nor is he truly an elusive ball handler. Stands to improve his route-running at receiver.

ANALYSIS: A solid running back with a complete game, Lynch is an athletic football player with good instincts. Has shown consistent progress in all aspects of his game while remaining a dominant feature back.

Rd 2 - 043 -

Buffalo trades second round pick (#43) and third round pick (#74) to Detroit for Lions second round pick (#34)

With Pick #34 the Bills take... Paul Posluszny LB Penn State

BIOGRAPHY: Three-year starter awarded All-Conference and All-American honors since his sophomore campaign. Led the team in tackles as a senior posting 116/9.5/3 numbers after 116/11/3 as a junior.

POSITIVES: Intense linebacker with great instincts. Immediately diagnoses the action, quickly locates the ball and seems to have a sixth sense, anticipating plays before they unfold. Takes good angles to the action and chases to get involved.

NEGATIVES: Lacks footwork moving in reverse and skills in pass coverage. Gets caught up in the trash and easily blocked from the action.

ANALYSIS: After a slow start to his senior campaign, Posluszny finally picked up the intricacies of inside linebacker in Penn State's 3-4 alignment and was one of the nation.s best defenders at season's end. A solid player who may not be as good as his headlines.

Rd 3 - 074 - Traded to Lions

Rd 3 - 092 - Trent Edwards QB, Stanford

BIOGRAPHY: Four-year starter who's been saddled with injuries since his freshman season. Played in seven games as a senior before breaking his foot, finishing the year with 60.3%/1,027/6/6. Junior totals were 62.7%/1,934/7/7, the only year he completed a full season.

POSITIVES: A nice-sized, athletic quarterback with an NFL arm. Patient in the pocket, buys time for receivers and sets up with solid fundamentals. Locates the open target on the field, zips the ball into pass catchers' hands and puts touch on throws when necessary.

NEGATIVES: Tends to float in the pocket. Stares down the primary target. Needs to improve his pass placement. Durability is a concern.

ANALYSIS: Physically gifted with solid intangibles, Edwards has taken a beating the past three years and missed a significant amount of playing time. Could be a steal on the second day of the draft if he fine-tunes his game and stays healthy.
