Rd 1 - 009 - Ted Ginn Jr. WR, Ohio State

BIOGRAPHY: Three-year starter and All-Conference selection as a junior after putting up receiving numbers of 59/781/9 while averaging 11.1 yards on 24 punt returns and 24.4 yards on 18 kick returns with one touchdown on each. Sophomore receiving totals were 51/803/4.

POSITIVES: Game-breaking skill player with home-run speed. Quick releasing off the line, has opponents playing back on their heels, and consistently stretches the field. Possesses a terrific burst of speed and runs to daylight if given the slightest space of open field.

NEGATIVES: Not big, and beaten out in physical battles. Easily brought down at the initial point of attack. Has trouble handling the jam.

ANALYSIS: A track and field sprinter who translates his natural speed onto the football field, Ginn is a vertical receiver who loosens up the defense. Must get stronger, but he's a game-breaking threat every time he steps onto the field.

Rd 2 - 040 - John Beck QB, BYU

BIOGRAPHY: Three-year starter named Mountain West Conference Offensive Player of the Year in .06 after career totals of 69.3%/3,885/32/8. All-Conference and All-Academic selection as a junior when he totaled 3,709 yards passing with 27 touchdowns strikes.

POSITIVES: Intelligent passer who is accurate in the short and intermediate field. Stands strong in the pocket, poised under the rush and consistently finds the open wideout. Sells the ball fakes, looks off the safety and goes through receiver progressions.

NEGATIVES: Lacks the top deep arm. Over-aged prospect.

ANALYSIS: A signal caller with excellent intangibles and field vision, Beck could effectively back up in a West Coast offense.

Rd 2 - 060 - Samson Satele C/OG, Hawaii

BIOGRAPHY: Four-year starter awarded All-Conference honors since his freshman campaign. Moved to center as a senior after playing guard the prior three years.

POSITIVES: Effective pass-blocking lineman who shows ability in space. Plays with pad level, is quick with his hands and fundamentally sound. Stays square, keeps his feet moving on contact and makes effective use of angles and body positioning.

NEGATIVES: Lacks the dominant base and average as a run-blocker. Does not show a lot of balance in his blocking.

ANALYSIS: A durable and versatile lineman, Satele offers starting possibilities at several interior blocking positions. Needs to elevate his game and improve his run-blocking, yet is a solid prospect for the future.

Rd 3 - 071 - Lorenzo Booker RB, Florida State

BIOGRAPHY: Rotational starter who posted 141/591/4 as a senior while adding 33/420 catching the ball. Led the team in rushing with 552 yards as a junior after posting a career-high 887 yards the prior year.

POSITIVES: Quick, elusive ball handler with potential as a third-down back. Patient, waits for blocks to develop and has a burst through the running lanes. Weaves through traffic, sets defenders up and makes them miss.

NEGATIVES: Not a strong ball carrier who picks up yardage off initial contact. Never asked to carry the load at Florida State.

ANALYSIS: An athletic, multi-purpose ball carrier, Booker should produce as a complementary back at the next level.

Some people are going to end up losing their jobs over this fiasco. Cameron was booed off the stage when he announced Ginn. Then was almost run out of South Florida with the Beck pick.

They did redeem themselves by grabbing an undersized underachiever in Booker though. I dunno, maybe they thought that taking a fat guy in Satele could provide inspiration for Booker and Ginn.

Yes and no. Ginn was a terrible pick at #9. Beck, Satele, and Booker actually were a very good picks.

Word is the Dolphins had a man crush on Ginn last year and apparently that did not change. The Dolphins said they didn't have a big play guy and they think Ginn is that guy.

Personally, IMO; he will never be more than a true #2. He is Santana Moss at the absolute best. A small speedster should never be your #1 in my opinion. Steve Smith is the closest thing to a small fast #1.

My grade. D-. F for the fact they draft Ginn 9th overall, but got some quality with the next three.

Not all of the picks were bad.

Ginn was a risk for any team, much less one without a QB. Add Trent Green in there and it seems a little better. But his foot has to make you take pause when you realize they probably would want more from him sooner than later if they are getting rid of Marty Booker. Ginn might have been indeed better in a situation like the Cowboys could have offered, not this.

They had some solid choices like Booker and Satele. Mormino is a big sleeper.

I don't understand what people see in Beck, honestly. He's a typical BYU quarterback IMO.

I honestly don't know what they were thinking with this Mauiea fellow. Smith is a good player, but could just as easily been undrafted. The remaining picks won't make the team.

Ginn was TERRIBLE value at the spot in the draft. LOVED Soliai in the 4th.....
