Let those who are superstitious about the blue jerseys chime in. This is the Cowboys first winning season in their history, and the first team photo in the white jerseys.

What a breakout season. The first of 20 consecutive winning seasons. Take a look at how many players had post season honors. Look at John Niland's accomplishments and tell me why he's not in our Ring of Honor and why he isn't mentioned for the Hall of Fame. Exactly, he should be.

One of my all time favorite Cowboys joins the team in 1966, Walt Garrison. He is probably the Cowboys all time greatest character. If you've never read his 1st book "Once a Cowboy," well, then shame on you. Absolutely funny stuff. His new book is due this September. I for one cannot wait.

This was one of my all-time favorite Cowboys squads. Our first winning season and we came awfully close to winning it all! I believe that had we beaten the Packers, we would have stomped the Chiefs in SBI as well.

What a great team we had that year. We could have easily gone 13-1, losing close games to the Eagles & Redskins and tying the Cards. The only real loss was to the Browns and even that game we should have won if I recall.

9 Pro-Bowlers that year and all starters. Landry won the Coach of the Year, we were far and away the most talented team in football.

I was so disappointed when we lost to the Packers at home in the Cotton Bowl. We came so close so many times in that game but the Packers capitalized on our mistakes and we couldn't overcome them even though we were definitely the more talented team.

The turning point for me came in the 2nd quarter when we were stopped at the goalline and had to settle for a FG. Of course, Meredith's INT in the endzone at the end of the game just killed me after we had marched all the way down the field.

Dan Reeves had a great season gaining over 1300 total yards and scoring 16 TDs. Bob Hayes was at his peak and our roster was so deep it was scary. Our offense was the highest scoring in the league and our defense was dominant, getting constant pressure on the QB and recording 60 sacks in a 14-game season!

As Hos said, this was the start of our 20-consecutive winning seasons streak and is the beginning of the greatness of the Cowboys. A very special season for us older fans who had gone through the years of losing and it was just the beginning for us or a winning tradition that continues today in our constant expectation that we will win.
Captain Nathan Brittles: "Only the man who commands can be blamed. It rests on me... mission failure!"

"Jerry Jones is a billionaire fan who bought his own team for the express purpose of buying his way into the game. He wants to hang out with the players, stand in front of the cameras, be the face of the team (yech), make personnel moves as if this were a video game, and more than anything else, be seen as the guy who made it all happen."
