Okay, now look at that picture and tell me the nine Hall of Famers?
"I don't think I would enjoy my prefession if I knew I was always a winner. It is the chase, the challenge, much moreso than the winning"From 1976 team highlight film "Wild and Wooley"
"I don't pray for my team to win. I pray to give my team the power to excel"
From his book, "Landry: The Man Inside."

Since when did Sid Gillman coach for the Cowboys? That's not the Gillman, is it?

It looks like him. He retired from the Chargers in 1971 due to poor health and took over as the Oilers GM in 1973 when his health improved.
I did find a list of Cowboys assistants under Landry here: http://www.cowboysplus.com/classic/w...yasststory.htm
That shows Sid Gillman as an assistant in 1972. That was something I didn't know. Considering what a fan I was of Gillman that is surprising.
Captain Nathan Brittles: "Only the man who commands can be blamed. It rests on me... mission failure!"
"Jerry Jones is a billionaire fan who bought his own team for the express purpose of buying his way into the game. He wants to hang out with the players, stand in front of the cameras, be the face of the team (yech), make personnel moves as if this were a video game, and more than anything else, be seen as the guy who made it all happen."

I never knew he was on the staff, and you are right that would make 10. I wonder what Roger thought of working with him? I'd love to find out.

Great question.
I loved Gillman since he was with the Rams and then the Chargers (I grew up in L.A.). He was such a passing genius, it kills me every time I hear Bill Walsh referred to as a genius since all he did was utilize what Gillman had been doing for decades and give it a catchy name. The only real difference was that Walsh rarely threw deep while Gillman mixed in deep passes with the short passing, but the general idea was the same, using the pass to set up the run rather than the other way around.
The weirdest thing about Gillman was that he was named AFC Coach of the Year in 1974 and promptly fired by the Oilers. There's a reason they sucked forever, Bud Adams was an idiot!
