Scientists are saying this, they arent running for office. Bush has made scientist be quiet about it. There was recently a meeting in paris where many scientists agreed that global warming is real, its time for people to accept something is going on. The glaciers are melting, they showed one melting at 5 feet per day. We are ripping apart the amazon (THE LUNGS OF THE EARTH) you dont think these are problems? WE have cars that get 8mpg. Trucks get 18 tops.

Yes i also get all my information from trey parker and matt stone. They said the makers of family guy were seals was it? Good source of information, i wish i was also educated.

We've done it before, with exceptional results I might add.

And I could care less what the rest of the world thinks of us. Your teachers didnt care if you liked them in school, so long as you knew not to eff with them.

Ya compare teachers with other countries. If you pissed off a teacher you would get detention, if the rest of the world hates you a war could break out. I love the analogy, i mean it was a good effort.

What does switching from leaded gasoline to unleaded gasoline have to do with global warming or the ozone layer?????? The government legislated the switch because lead was found to cause brain damage if swallowed or breathed in. The government banned lead paint for the same reason. Lead has no effect on global temperatures or the ozone layer.

The $20 emissions test that is required for your car also has nothing to do with global warming. These tests are to eliminate localized ground level pollution caused by automobiles. They test for ground level ozone (not actually ozone - its actually three CFC's that remain at ground level), sulfur dioxide, carbon monoxide, and a few other ground level pollutants.

I don't buy this man-made global warming garbage either. Weathermen cannot accurately predict the temperature within 2 degrees within the next five days, but I'm supposed to believe that scientists can predict the temperature within 5 degrees in the next 100 years?????

Climate science is still in its infancy. The climate models used still do not accurately predict the increase or decrease in water vapor and how this change will affect global temperature. They are just guessing. Models range from guessing a 2 degree increase to up to 15 degrees over the next century.

Richard Lindzen, a participant in the IPCC and the professor of climatology at MIT, has been extremely outspoken about water vapor and how it affects temperature (this is his specialty). Water vapor is, by far, the most important greenhouse gas in the atmosphere. With the increase in water vapor, you will also get more clouds. An increase in water vapor could increase or decrease the average global temperature - the fact is climate scientist are not certain how the water vapor fits into the equation.

Climate scientists are also ignorant of other factors. They cannot determine the impact of other factors as well. They cannot predict the magnitude of El Nino's, cannot explain the Medieval Warm Period or the Little Ice Age, and do not fully understand the role of the sun on our climate.

Collateral damage. An unfortunate reality, but it was a necessary measure.

You can't let compassion factor into your decision when you have to do something like that.

That the earth is currently in a warming trend is without dispute.

But why the earth is getting warmer is more of an unanswered question than the "debate is over" crowd makes it out to be.

We do not know how much the sun has to do with the earth's warming. Considering the size and energy of the sun, I'm guessing a lot. The occurance of sun spots on the sun's surface correlate to warming and cooling periods on earth since the 1600s. Yet most climate models do not even take the sun into account. Why?

We do not know what effect the earth's warming will have on cloud cover, and thusly, on further warming of the planet. Scientist do not agree on if there will be more clouds or less clouds because of warming. There is still much we still do not know about how clouds even affect the earth's climate. How is this reflected in "conclusive" climate models?

We have no confidence in weather reports five or ten days ahead, yet because climate models, which are completely unproven and have yet to accurately predict climate ten years ahead, show that the earth will be x degrees hotter in a CENTURY, we are supposed to take that seriously?

Mars and Jupiter are also getting warmer. What is causing that?

We need more awareness about the environment. We need to be more responsible users of the world's resources. We need more research done on cleaner, renewable energy.

This movement does not help that.

All this does is make people feel good about themselves while pointing fingers at big business, industry and Western society. Though research also provides for a lot of jobs in government and private industry.

To make a dent in the reduction of the greenhouse gases CO2, methane and water vapor (a major one, btw) we would need to drastically cut back production and effectively shut off the economic development of developing nations. Basically, we tell them we've had ours but you can't have yours. What does that do to the global economy, let alone our own?

This is something that needs more of a debate, but all we get is shrill indictments pronounced by governments and media that know that fear sells. Bird flu. SARS. Terrorism. Global Warming. Climate Change. Cancer. Crime. Drugs. We know this, and yet still we get caught up in the noise.

Let us remember that there is no "global consensus" in science. Let's get back to a real debate again.
