Why McFadden will be a cowboy...
Here's my take on who will take who in the 08 draft......I tried to list any team that might have a possiblity of having a top 10 pick.
most of this has been covered before on this forum, but I'm bored and there's really nothing on tv right now.
Bills..........took Lynch last year
Minnesota.....Took Peterson last year
Cardinals......still have a big contract with Edge
Skins........Portis and Betts, desperatly need help on Dline
Raiders.......If DeSean Jackson comes out, I think the raiders take him, he's also a local kid. Lamont Jordon has been fine, and Jemarcus will need a go to guy. We know Al Davis loves very fast recievers, ala Tim Brown. I think they take a WR here.
Miami.....desperatly need a qb. They won't piss off the fans like last year and take another position
Atlanta......Absolutely need a qb. Brohm if he's there because of the Louisville connection
Jets....gave Thomas Jones a big contract
Giants.....I think they'll win 7 games, so they'll be out of the running.
Rams......Stephen Jackson
Cincinatti.... will win 8 games, regardless, they need defensive help
Texans....will win 8 games, also signed Ahman green
Jaguars....Do they really need another rb?
Kansas City.....Larry Johnson? Desperatly need qb and Oline help.
Thoughts???????????????????

1) I think the Skins drop Portis this offseason. They could be interested.
2) The Raiders may be interested, as they don't have a star RB. But they have a pretty big stable. They still have Michael Bush from the 4th round last year, who they may want to see what they got in him.
3)Miami won't be drafting QB. They drafted Beck in the 2nd last year. But that doesn't mean they'll be interested in McFadden if Ronnie Brown can show something.
4) Atlanta. If Brohm's not there when they pick, they could be interested. Dunn's almost done.
I agree with you just about everywhere else.

Not really, imo, if Rich McKay has the final say, which he should considering his experience and success at the pro-level, Andre Woodson would be the pick.

Bold above is my thoughts. Odds of McGREATNESS being a Cowboy are slim. Especially if he is "all that' as represented. If he is the best back in past 10 years he's off the board on us. And Contrary to popular thoughts, Browns are going to win a few more games.

James will be 30 next year, entering the 3rd year of his 4-year contract, and they have nothing behind him.

I don't see the 'Skins picking that high.

Davis loves to make headlines, he has his QB, and I don't see Jordan or Rhodes holding him back.

Cameron seems to have something against Ronnie Brown, but in general, I agree.

Agree, but if he's not there, Norwood and Dunn wouldn't be enough to hold me back.

True.

Agree.

Rams......Stephen Jackson

He won't stop them, but Steven Jackson might.

Rudi's been worked awfully hard and looks to be slowing down.

Green's old and won't stop them, but I agree, they're not top-5.

Taylor's old, and MJD hasn't done a thing this year (and they may not see him as an every-down back). They're too good to be in this discussion, though.

As someone else said, Johnson could be on the move.
Teams with potential high picks that you're missing:
Detroit: Could be fed up with Kevin Jones' injuries and Tatum Bell's mediocrity.
New England: They have Maroney.
New Orleans: They have Bush, but somehow I could see them doing it (just move Reggie to WR, already)
Plus someone could trade up, but I think the 'Boys are the only team with 2 first-round picks.

This is such a great RB draft and the emergence of MB3 as a top 5 RB in the NFL - I am not going to lose sleep if we don't get McFadden top 5 - if we even draft that high.

Barber's not a top 5 RB. In our 3 games, we haven't been able to lean on him to win yet. He's been able to wrap games up, but he has 2 50 yard runs in the 4th that pad his stats.

McFadden looks awesome, but I am skeptical. I mean Blair Thomas looked awesome too and look how well he did. We took the underdog, the lesser back that year, and all he did was become the all-time leading rusher.
While McFadden impresses me, I am also interested in guys like Hart and Slaton. Everytime I see Hart run, he reminds me of MB3. He runs with so much determination.

It's hard to call Staton an underdog

Slaton and Rice are great backs and likely on board at 10-15

The Kid from Oregon could be there too, if he comes out.

Few players in school history ever have combined the strength and speed as the returning starter, who enters his junior year less than 900 yards shy of approaching the Ducks’ career top- 10 lists in both rushing (1,169 yards) and all-purpose yards (2,408 yards). Posted a power clean lift of 402 lbs. during the winter of 2007 that was bettered only by NFL lineman Haloti Ngata (407 lbs.) among all-time Oregon football players. Also bench pressed 410 lbs. in 2006 that surpassed all running backs in school history, while his 4.34 hand time clocking ranks fourth all-time among the school’s running backs. The 13-game career starter enters 2007 among the nominees for the Maxwell Award, presented annually to the outstanding collegiate football player in the country. Already ranks ninth on school’s career list for kickoff return yards (1,050 yds.), while his 30.0-yard average stands second [View Full Quote]in Oregon annals and the school’s best in more than 55 years. Packs the power that has been detrimental to him at times as his refusal to be brought down easily has made him susceptible to unnecessary punishment from would-be tacklers. But has learned to be more prudent in his decisions, electing to complement his power game with a finesse to avoid defenders rather than always challenge them head on. With two years of experience under his belt, has gained more confidence in his own abilities as he appeared more comfortable in the open field during spring workouts, yet still possesses the drive that pushes him to get better. Has also improved his ability as a receiver as well as his ball security, recording only four fumbles in 2006 while handling the football a team-high 226 times. Combined to lift a team-high 1,342 lbs. from three lifts (power, squat and bench press) during winter workouts (5.86 times his body weight), with his 555-lb. squat ranking fifth all-time among running backs and the best mark in nine years. How on earth could KC trade Larry Johnson? The cap hit would be enormous. The time to trade him was this summer.

With the way the Browns are playing and their easy schedule, I think they can win 7 to 9 games. I see us drafting somewhere between 12-16. McFadden will be long gone by then.
