for all the people who thought davis was going to play guard
The question now is what position will Davis play, guard or tackle? The Cowboys have not had much progress in talks with the agent for Colombo on a long-term deal, which means Davis could play right tackle. Assistant head coach Tony Sparano is high on two young guards, Cory Procter and Joe Berger, in case Rivera is unable to return.
that came from the newspaper...lets talk about it now...DAVIS at RT like i told you guys...thats where he is playing, we arent signing columbo...sparano is high on two other guards...so now how do you feel about DAVIS....at RT....sack city baby

So are you arguing that he will play RT because we can't get Colombo re-signed or that he was signed with the intent of him playing RT?
I just want to be clear, because your argument seems to change.

This entire post is based on your believe the Colombo won't be returning or another FA signed or another player drafted to play RT and Davis is forced to play RT. We won't know how this all goes down for a long time. Until that time comes, all this is pure speculation. In any case, the sky isn't falling.
This is a team who is battling several major injuries to
key players including Pro Bowl talents like Lee, Austin, Jenkins, Murray,
Carter and Ratliff. Other key starters missing include Costa, Smith, Church and
Coleman. That is 11 key players - that's half the starting lineup. Yet we still went 8-8.

Todd also reports that contract talks with Marc Colombo's agent aren't progressing, so Davis could very well be the Cowboys' right tackle.
from another report at DMN...and you know what my argument is..he cant play RT...he is going to play RT...we are in trouble...all this money and he cant play tackle like someone who would get that type of money...

"Thought"?
I still think he's going to play guard.
And if the team didn't want him to do so, they wouldn't still be talking with Colombo.
Now which speaks louder, the team's actions, or a speculative blog entry from Todd Archer?

No, your argument seems to be changing. Before it was "Davis was signed to play RT." Then it was pointed out that we were still trying to sign Colombo, which means that Davis wasn't intended for RT.
Now your argument seems to be that because we can't sign Colombo, Davis must be the RT. That makes little sense, because you don't know whether we will or will not sign Colombo or any other FA for that matter -- not to mention Fabini, McQ, and potential draftees.
So, what is your point? Or is this just *****ing for the sake of *****ing?

Are they quoting Jerry?Wade?Sparano?Jeff?Stephen?NO,NO,NO,NO,NO
They are speculating, in camp McQuistan or Fabini could get the job for all we know. Wait for a PC to have your little tantrum at least. Geez!

DMN: Cowboy blog: Davis' 'Bigg' deal
March 4, 2007
Davis' 'Bigg' deal
Todd Archer reports that more than $18 million of Leonard Davis' nearly $50 million contract is guaranteed.
I reckon it's market value, but that's a ton of money for a guy considered a bust in Arizona. Of course, it's a great deal if the Texas-ex fulfills his potential.
Todd also reports that contract talks with Marc Colombo's agent aren't progressing, so Davis could very well be the Cowboys' right tackle.

I'm not liking the sound of the way the Colombo negotiations are going.

You must work for the FO if you are going to imply that you know for sure what position Davis will play or is intended to play. The most likely scenario is that the team liked Davis because he could play both Guard and Tackle and would give the team some insurance should Colombo leave. That being said, the fact that they are still persuing Colombo makes it fairly reasonable to conclude that the team hopes to play Davis at RG next to Colombo. So if in fact that is the teams desire and Colombo does leave, it would also make sense to expect them to persue another RT in free agancy or the draft in order to allow Davis to play his best position.
