Roy Williams is the man!

I picked this up on another forum. Thought y'all might get a kick out of it. It was a repost on the other site and could have originated here for all I know.

But if you read the article you'll see a real difference between Roy Williams and Washington's Taylor. Taylor goes after people when they take his ATV's. Roy gave away his ATV's.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I just happened to come across this site and wanted to say something about Roy Williams.

I live in Honolulu, HI and was able to attend the 2005 Pro Bowl this year for the first time. I was so stoked because I was going to see my fave, Mike Vick, play in person!! But little did I realize that I was going to see what an awesome person Roy Williams is to his fans.

Every year at the Pro Bowl there are free practices at the Aloha Stadium where you can watch the teams practice. After these practices some of the players come over to the sidelines and sign autographs for the fans. Well, after every practice there was a familiar face taking time to sign as many autographs as he could - that face belonged to Roy Williams. Many players didn't take the time to come over to sign anything or even wave at their fans (even my beloved Mike Vick - lol).

Well, I went to the Pro Bowl on the Sunday and sat 6 rows freom the field on the NFC side at the 20 yard line. It was awesome to see all these players together on 1 field. Vick, Williams, McNabb, Manning, Bettis, Owens (even though he didnt play, he was there).

To make a long story a lil' shorter, after the game was over, the different players ran to the locker rooms to shower up. A few players stuck around to sign autographs. And once again - Roy Williams was there. Slowly walking down the line of anxious markers and papers and tshirts and balls. When he got to me, he signed a paper for me and took a pic with me (very handsome man I must add!!!-lol)

Anyways - 2 guys next to me had on Roy's jersey. Roy looked at them, and began taking his shoes off. He signed each of them and gave them to these 2 guys who were wearing his jersey and said to them, "Dallas does for Dallas."
(That's what I get for wearing Vick's jersey to the game-lol)

After he took his shoes off and gave them to these 2 SUPER EXCITED gentlemen, he continued to walk around the field in his SOCKS for another 25 minutes and signed autographs!!!!

This man is a man who truly cares and respects his fans. This man didn't have to do the things he did, but I have alot of respect for him after seeing him on February 13th.

I saw and met many of the NFL players that week - from Jerome Bettis to Payton Manning to Alge Crumpler to Sean Alexander to Terrell Owens to David Akers, to Jeremiah Trotter and by far Mr. Roy Williams had to be the nicest and realest guys I met.

Like my name on here suggests, I am a HUGE Falcons fan, but this experience has led me to take a look at the Dallas Cowboys and Roy WIlliams.

Just thought I would share,
FalconsFan in Hawaii

i missed it the first time too, but was happy to read it now. great story, great to know we have players with talent and humility. America's Team? with so many feel-good players, if we make another run at a title we can expect an entire new generation of Cowboys fans, and maybe regain both titles...

Ya, I met roy he's kinda small ;) Well doesnt help im offensive lineman size lol. He is a great guy I saw him in SA at training camp he's really a great guy who goes WAY out of the way to sign autographs (2 shirts and a RW theme football) take pictures with kids and poke rowdy heh. Great guy he learned a lot from Emmitt in terms of class and its good to the a new generation with class with all the stupid rook's comming out of college and being thugs who make millions of dollars as role models to kids and screw it all up and throw it away.

Excellent post. I missed it the first time around.

I'm glad to see Roy go out of his way to make a fans day. Pretty rare thing these days with the money involved in pro sports.
