Default St. Louis Rams Picks

Rd 1 - 013 - Adam Carriker DE, Nebraska

BIOGRAPHY: Three-year starter awarded All-Conference honors after his junior and senior campaigns. Totals last season were 52/16/7, with one interception and three pass break-ups. Junior totals included 43/17/9.5.

POSITIVES: Physically impressive prospect who plays an intelligent brand of football. Instinctive and immediately locates the ball. Moves laterally with speed defending the run and has a burst upfield rushing the quarterback. Makes plays in all directions.

NEGATIVES: Stymied at the point of attack by a single blocker. Needs to develop more moves to disengage from opponents.

ANALYSIS: Hard-working and tenacious, Carriker is a smart prospect who could be used at a variety of positions. Looks like a perfect two-gap end, yet may also fit in at defensive tackle. His draft stock is soaring, and he may end up as a top 12 pick.

Rd 2 - 052 - Brian Leonard RB/FB, Rugers

BIOGRAPHY: Four-year starter awarded All-Conference honors every season since his sophomore campaign. Rushing totals were 93/423/5 last season, when he also led the team in receiving with 38/294. Posted a career-high 740 yards rushing as a junior.

POSITIVES: Tough, determined prospect with a complete game. Displays outstanding vision, does a terrific job sealing holes open in the middle of the field and controls opponents as a lead blocker. Has the speed to turn the corner.

NEGATIVES: Has watched his weight fluctuate and lacks the size to be a true fullback. Does not run to daylight in the open field.

ANALYSIS: A tremendous worker who.s produced as a blocker, ball carrier and pass catcher on the college level, Leonard offers terrific upside in a number of capacities. Has the physical skills and mental make-up to be a productive starter early in his NFL career.

Rd 3 - 082 - Jonathan Wade CB, Tennessee

BIOGRAPHY: Three-year starter awarded All-Conference honors as a senior after totaling 52/4/13. Junior totals were 32/2/7.

POSITIVES: Athletic corner with outstanding size/speed numbers. Fast running downfield with opponents, quickly breaks to the throw and has a burst to the action. Explosive moving up the field defending the run and plays with an aggressive style.

NEGATIVES: Lacks instincts, gets lost on the field and does not recognize assignments. Does more hitting than wrapping up ball carriers, which leads to broken tackles.

ANALYSIS: A better athlete than football player at this point, Wade showed improvement as a senior, yet is still far from being the complete package. Boom-or-bust type of prospect whose natural skills give him a good upside.
