I loved Gillman since he was with the Rams and then the Chargers (I grew up in L.A.). He was such a passing genius, it kills me every time I hear Bill Walsh referred to as a genius since all he did was utilize what Gillman had been doing for decades and give it a catchy name. The only real difference was that Walsh rarely threw deep while Gillman mixed in deep passes with the short passing, but the general idea was the same, using the pass to set up the run rather than the other way around.
The weirdest thing about Gillman was that he was named AFC Coach of the Year in 1974 and promptly fired by the Oilers. There's a reason they sucked forever, Bud Adams was an idiot!
