I can't even begin to explain how badly I hated the hiring of Barry Switzer. It is the single worst day of my life as a Cowboys fan. No day is darker for me. It took me a long time to get over being mad at Jerry Jones for this hiring. In fact I didn't even begin to get over it until the day Michael Irvin got hurt and Jerry went with him in the ambulance.
I learned to respect Jerry that day more than I had to that point. That is how much I dislike Barry Switzer. I knew the team would start a downward spiral the day he was hired.
I honestly believe if Jimmy had still been at the helm we'd have won 4 in a row, maybe 5. The talent on these early 90's teams was unreal and one of the great evidences of it was the NFC Championship loss to the 49ers. If you could ever be impressed with a loss it has to be that one. The 49ers got spotted 21 points and then Troy Aikman and company became a well oiled machine.
The early 90's team was truly a joy to watch play football. The Offensive Line may have been the most dominant unit I have ever seen and that includes the Rams O-Line that blocked for Dickerson.
1994 for me, was about what might have been. I focused more than ever on just enjoying the team because I detested the Coach, and at this time, Jerry Jones as well.
