It seems as though they make selections based on name recognition for the occasional fan rather than attempting to accurately forecast the correct order.

Brimmer ain't going #13, that's for sure. He's a round two type guy, won't sneak into the first especially with the Pats, Eagles and Steelers all having good safetys already.
Mocks change so much over time that they are about impossible to put any stock in at the moment. I remember a mock draft a year ago that was halfway through the college season and Matt Ware of UCLA the #4 overall pick. He ended up going to the Eagles in round 3 (guy I liked though).
A lot of it will depend on what underclassmen decide to come out too.
