Right, It's not like he's stealing food from someone by making 7 dollars an hour. The place wasn't even really hiring, so in reality, he's just an extra hire rather than a replacement. The owener obviously sees his 7 dollars an hour as a good investment. Look at the advertising he is now getting!
The comment I remember Mahe saying was something along the lines of "If I'm not spending time making money, then I'm spending time spending money" Sounds like a pretty grounded guy to me.
