Being in Northern VA I used to get shafted with barely any Cowboys games on TV so I turned to Sunday Ticket. But since BP became coach the 'Boys have been on regular TV almost every week even out here in Hog Hell. This SUCKS from a DirecTV perspective because the awesome HD clarity is then BLACKED OUT because the game is carried locally. Local TV sucks in my area because HD signals are a crapshoot over the air via antenna.
Philly, Carolina, NY Giants, and Arizona look to be the only guaranteed Sunday Ticket games for the Cowboys thanks to conflicts with Washington.
I will get the New York FOX channel 88 in HD, but this will likely be showing Giants games, not Cowboys games. I could also pay another $14 to get one month of four crappy channels and ESPN in HD to cover the last game.
The main advantage wth DirecTV was that I could stay home, pay my dues with the kids thus scoring brownie points with my wife and STILL catch the Cowboys. But is $220 (plus one month of ESPN in HD for $14) worth it for 5 measely HD games??? Granted, I'll still SEE all the games since they would be local, just not in HD.
This system is broken, so unless DirecTV can promise local channels in HD, I'm ditching them for HD Digital Cable from Cox. Screw the brownie points, I'll head to a bar for those 4-5 Sunday Ticket Only games and won't even come close to spending $235!
