Protecting him in what fashion??? Are you suddenly his agent? Last I saw his agent may have misconstrued some of the thoughts that Ralph had.

It doesn't matter what grandiose thoughts you may have about your abilities and the like, the organization will determine where you fit best. $656,000.00 U.S. dollars says they have the privilege to do so.
Both sides are free to make choices, but typically the employee has very little leverage in choices unless he or she has "alot of notches on the bedpost", "skins in the bag", etc. Proven success gives you leverage as far as I have seen of Pete Hunter, and I'm certain other teams have the same access, the leverage is miniscule.
Little leverage typically means keep your comments to yourself and get on the field. Your time is not now. The only
protection Hunter needs right now is from himself. He's no T.O. so I would expect him to toe the company line for his financial welfare.
