I know I did not explain well, but I was not comparing Portis and Smith in any way.
What I was trying to say is that after E. Smith's rookie year I have no doubt there was some RB who had been in the league a few years and was more proven than Smith.
However, just based on watching Smith I knew that although more proven, I would not trade Smith for one of the more "proven" RBs in the league.
That is the same way many others including myself feel about Julius.

Hey I can certainly respect that and I agree with what you're saying about Emmitt.
I do think Julius will be a great back in this league and put up good numbers when all is said and done.
