We had enough talent to win the Super Bowl without Deion. The only reason we overpaid to get him was to get him off the 49ers roster.
But we definitely paid the price in the following years. He was paid to be a kick/punt returner, CB, and WR. When he went down, we lost 3 players.
His HUGE contract also excluded us from being into valuable depth which we sorely needed.
He was far from the missing piece to the Super Bowl puzzle. We had the talent to win it all without him ... but his HUGE contract kept us from getting back into it.
