Any defense is vulnerable if the right players are not on board.
The 46 defense is no more fallible than the 3-4 or the 4-3 if the correct personnel are in place. It is very tough to accumulate that level of talent. It might come along once every ten years, as it did with the Bears and Eagles.
It would require a dynamite deep safety and outstanding corners who can line up and play man with anyone. The Ravens come closest to any team in the league that could pull it off.
With McAlister, Rolle, Sanders and Dale Carter (if healthy), there is not a team in the league deep enough to spread them out.
