I see your point, but I disagree that we don't have 'enough' speed - we do IMO. The more important thing here is going to be getting the running game going to set up the pass and giving the QB pass protection.
I could see your point if we didn't have two guys named Keyshawn and Glenn ... but those two guys have a knack for the game and that's all they really need. On top of that, Glenn does have good speed - almost great.
Factor in a crafty TE and a speedy RB and I think we've got enough weapons to make this offense fire on all cylinders without missing too many beats. |
I hope you're right, Ben. I keep thinking about, since the short-intermediate passing game has not been a Bledsoe staple of late, (except as Mikey mentioned, he was forced to return to it last year) what is it that will make that game successful? What does Drew need? He needs receivers with the speed to get open and open those holes in the zones.
Folks all know by now when Bill had Drew dumping off to Coates, he also had Glenn as his downfield threat. But Terry was paired up with a pretty fast guy (in his prime)in Sean Jefferson. This was a player with deceptive speed. T, btw, in his rookie year really ran very little but Z routes. Jefferson had a full repertoire of routes.
We shall see..but it's not about who has Galloway burner speed, for this O it's who has the burst off the LOS and the speed to run at his defender and accelerate fast enough on little ole 12 yard curls...who won't get held up so Bledsoe can make the right decision. Belichick as DC in NY discoverd that was esential to stymying Drew. It's not just about quickness, it's about speed.
Jason runs very crisp routes and I think he can handle the Coates type responsibility well enough for us to get more speed along the sidelines. Not to denigate Key whatsoever, but I really want to see what Morgan can do, and exactly how much speed he really has.
