If your using Parcells as a guide for your WR evaluation, then the issue is clear. Parcells has never really been all that good an evaluator of WRs IMO. Even he admits that when with the Giants, they missed on several WRs. Now, in all fairness, Parcells didn't make a lot of the picks while with the Giants so.......... Having said that, he did pick a pretty good one in a young Glenn. An exceptionally fast WR coming out.
[View Full Quote]As for Bryant, I don't believe that he is all that great a deep threat WR. His AYPC is not all that great at 14.0 per. I can't speak for his speed because I honestly don't know how fast he can run. However, I can produce many heated discussion that say he runs much faster then a 4.5. I'm also not sure how fast Irvin ran so again, I can't confirm or deny your statement. I will however say this, I think 4.5 for a WR is at best, adequate. If your a possesion receiver, then I think it's OK. If your job is to stretch the field, I don't think it's all that great. I do think you have a point about being able to adjust to a ball but when its all said and done, if you have speed and the QB can get it there, there's no better play in football then watching the WR run under it. There's also no play in football that puts more fear into the defense.

He didn't want Glenn though. I think Coles was probably his best WR pick.
