We might be able to get a Trent Dilfer one year wonder out of it. It is fleeting and temporary and not all that impressive.
I think Trent Dilfer was one of the worst stories to ever happen to the NFL. That gave everyone the idea that maybe, just maybe, you could win a title with an average talent back there. Now his memory is a rallying cry for every fan that wants to diminish how important the QB position is to the long term success of a franchise.
But that team was built on defense. And last I checked, we were not even close to that. Not by a long shot.

As much as I like Dilfer, I agree. I don't want to luck into a Championship. I like following proven examples. QBs make a huge difference.
