I don't even limit it to just bike racing. It is just sports in general. Give me the best no matter how they get there physically. It isn't as if he put a motor on his bike. He still had to put in the hours of training. Perhaps the PEDs helped him recover faster and he could put in even more hours training. The point is it still takes the athlete putting forth effort even when they are on PEDs.
Also, it is somewhat arbitrary what is considered an illegal or banned substance. What athletes could not use 20 years ago is allowed now or vice versa. Some of the legal supplements that are allowed today weren't around in the early 20th century. Does that make every athlete tainted?
And look at medical procedures. Gale Sayers career was cut short due to knee injuries. Those injuries are now much easier to deal with due to improvements in the medical field. Should that stuff be banned as well?
