You need enough quality games to enable high rankings. Only 4 conferences have that and this year that's been questionable for even the Big 10.
Making lots of money helps produce better programs.
The Big 12 could have added schools already if they wanted to but unless it was Notre Dame bringing more money per school they opted to stick at 10.
Big 12 members like that they each get to play UT once a year and that they don't have to play a CCG to advance to the playoffs/BCS.

The Big 12, especially Texas, needs to stop with this idiotic line of thinking or get left by the wayside down the road.
Personally I don't think they really think that way. I think they just have not gotten the teams they wanted yet. They will move sooner or later because they know they have to move sooner or later.
