The defense is good at stopping teams fairly consistently but there are breakdowns at the most inopportune times. We're pretty good at holding teams to field goals.

The Cowboys defense is comparable to the top two defenses overall (Steelers/Niners) in many of those same stats.
I don’t agree that the defense has been unable to get important stops. They have, the reason the Cowboys have been able to make comebacks and win 5 games.
The offense has been terrible this season and that has had an effect on the overall defense. Turnovers happen when teams are playing from behind and being predictable. That hasn’t happened much this season.
