Real life Death Star. (Actually Saturn's moon Mimas)



NASA astronaut Dan Burbank captured the Comet Lovejoy as it soared near the Earth’s horizon on December 21, 2011. Burbank was aboard the International Space Station and said of the sighting, ““[It was] the most amazing thing I’ve ever seen in space, and that’s saying an awful lot because every day is filled with amazing things.”



A size comparison of a neutron star to New York city. A neutron stars contain up to as much as 500,000 times the mass of the Earth in a sphere no larger than Brooklyn, United States.
A neutron star is a type of stellar remnant left behind after a supernova. Gravitational collapse occurs and if a black hole does not form, then a neutron star does.

(Although technically this is over Queens/Long Island - it looks like it would be larger than Brooklyn)
