It's probably the hangover effect of the Patriots schooling teams with inferior talent for a few years there.

But I think the idea is to find the guys that are both the right kind and have sufficient talent. It's moving up for Claiborne instead of staying put and picking up Janoris Jenkins later. It's signing Brandon Carr and not Cortland Finnegan. It's going aggressively after Kyle Orton when he's available. These aren't moves to subordinate talent, they're moves to get both talent and attitude, because you believe both are important.
