our drafts have been good minus the terrible rw11 apocalypse where it seems we didnt bother to scout but rather threw darts on draft day.
As regards RBs, most did not have Steven Jackson that much higher then Kevin Jones or Julius.
we've also brought in better street free agents than any team in football the past couple seasons: laurent, ernie sims et al.

If you bother to go back and check a lot of the scouting publications you will find that a lot of those picks make sense. It is only in hindsight they are bad.
Carpenter was considered the logical pick at the time. Rogers is the only one BP insisted on that our scouts did not like, as regards first or second round.
Steven jackson was not widely considered to be a super back; Kevin Jones and Julius were considered by many to be about as good.
