Both OU and Texas share an almost annual problem with their respective coaching staffs. IE, they lose coaches at a very high rate which makes it hard to create stability.

IMO, the real problem for OU these past few years is that they have not had a starting QB who is a master of the staple of Stoop's offense. He is not a great no-huddle QB IMO. That offense keys on 1st down success and I just have not seen the same kind of results with that offense under Landry. I think that this is a big part of why OU has had issues with regards to winning big games.

I would not get too overly excited or concerned with OU's situation. Once Landry leaves, there is a very good chance that Stoops will bring in a QB who can run the No-Huddle and we will be back to what we have traditionally seen out of Stoops teams. Of course, you can argue that this works well up until you get to the Championship game and see a Pro Quality defense and there is some truth to that IMO. However, I would not be quick to throw dirt on the collective faces of OU just yet. Same can be said to Texas IMO but we will see what happens.
