I'd say a starting S is a key player on most teams. Especially when that player was the early talk of the defensive camp.
It wasn't just our injuries. They were also mostly one side of the ball, and we were hit multiple times in the same position groups (ILB, OC, S). It's one thing to play your #2. It's something else to start the season with your #4 C who's been with the team all of 4 days.
