Thanks for posting the link to that article.

I can certainly see how many would get pulled into using PED's if it was common place in your sport, and if that sport was your career and primary source of income. I agree that people would be forgiving of that.

Its another case of not be willing to accept the consequences of your actions and the attempts to cover it up ends up doing more damage then if he had just decided to face up to the truth.

Im sure it was embarrassing for him to confess after repeatedly denying the whole thing and i can undestand that once he started down that path it would be more and more difficult to come clean.

when he started using PED's it's probable that he never saw himself becoming the popular figure and hero that he eventually became... so at first he was just another guy training and doing what many others were doing to compete. Once he got to that point of fame and basicly being worshipped by so many - then i think its very hard for a person at that level to admit to something that would be such a disapointment so i can imagine there would be a great level of difficulty there. I think some might underestimate that.

However, it still stands that he cheated and continued to publicly lie about it and people have a hard time finding a person likeable when they see that. And he took it to another level with the threats that were being made against others. I dont know if you can fix your reputation after something like that is carried out in the public for everyone to see.
