I thought you were talking about the $3M number xwalker gave when estimating the yearly pro-ration of Brandon Carr's new signing bonus when he restructures in the near future.
There would be $6M in remaining signing bonus after the 2013 season before the restructure takes place, so I don't know how he came up with only $3M in dead money.
Following the restructure, there will be something like $16.48M in remaining signing bonus money after the 2013 season.
