I'll add a second thought...he ran his butt off for them for two years and Wannstadt was about to be fired because he couldn't even make the playoffs. If they missed this year, he's probably fired...now he gets a reprieve with a built in excuse to coach and cash a paycheck another year.
As a fan, I'd be upset at what it would do to my Cowboys' season, but as a man, I say good for him...the working man is paid for his work, and when a team cuts him, no one wails over the unfairness after he gives his body and health for the team (see Emmitt)...This is a business. I admire his convictions if indeed he is really walking away from the game.
Maybe he'll find himself, travel, study, smoke weed, and live life to the fullest with his kids for 2-3 years...when most of his money's gone, he'll still be young enough to come back and sign a 4-5 million dollar contract (see Eddie).
The dolphins were losing with him...they can lose without him.
