Fourth-round draft pick Bruce Thornton, a cornerback from Georgia, agreed to a four-year contract with the Cowboys on Thursday morning.
With a strong training camp, Thornton could contend for the starting right cornerback spot.
The Cowboys hope to sign their first-round draft pick, running back Julius Jones of Notre Dame, later Thursday.
Players are scheduled to report Friday to training camp in Oxnard, Calif., and the first practice is Saturday morning. Owner and general manager Jerry Jones and the coaching staff arrived Tuesday to finalize plans.
Jones' agent, Tom Condon, met with director of player personnel Stephen Jones on Tuesday before flying to New York to continue talks with the Giants about quarterback Eli Manning.
