Default Getting the Best 11 on the field

Thinking outside the box I wonder if Coakley could have played opposite of Roy at safety this past year. The guy is pretty quick, can cover some and couldnt have been worse than what we used at safety. This would have had the added effect of sizing up the defense. I realize its asking him to play a position he hasnt played for us, but the goal should be (or should have been)to get the best 11 athletes on the field.

He's quick for a LB. WAY too slow for a safety. WAY too slow.

But my point was.....Is it possible he could have been better than Dixon or Scott...... Neither of them set the world on fire.

No way a 32 year old Coakley stays with any WR.
Pain is weakness leaving the body.

Dex has been a liability in coverage covering TEs and RBs, he'd be TOAST against a WR.

I used to think that too, back during his first few years in the league. Dex was alledged to have 4.3 speed at the time.
Then a game in Denver in '98, shattered all the illusions about his speed for me.
A one time high-school nose tackle named Terrell Davis tore off a 50-60 yard TD run and Dex was one of the guys he left in his dust. Dex, and Deion, looked like they were running as hard as they could and Davis just smoked them.
I lost interest in reported 40 yard dash times after that day.

I am glad someone else remembers that play 2much!
I haven't like dexie since...

He had Davis, dead to rights, but dexie just stood there...Davis stopped, changed direction and ran all the way untouched as lil tiny dexie lost ground all the way for the TD...

I think that was the same game Hennings was illegally chop blocked (hurt knee) and the fat @$$ Madden would NEVER admit it, even though it was obvious on replay that he was engaged, and then choped by the other player...Always hated Denver since then too...

Dexie should take dat & zimmy & go start a under 5-11 team
