Default NFL Insider: Bill Polian On Cowboys Drafting

Does anyone know what the article says or have access to it?? I was able to read the first few paragraphs and was kind of annoyed when it was cut off and said i had to be an insider.

By Calvin Watkins | ESPNDallas.com

Bill Polian knows something about drafting NFL players. He's a six-time NFL Executive of the Year and was a GM for three teams: Buffalo, Carolina and Indianapolis.

Today, Polian -- who's now an ESPN analyst -- ranked which teams are the best at identifying and drafting talent since 2009. The Cowboys don't rank very high.

Polian is impressed with the Cowboys taking Sean Lee (2010, second round, though Cowboys had first-round grade) and Tyron Smith (2011 first-round pick) in the draft.

Yet Polian writes, "There is more work to do here. The last two drafts were good but there is room for improvement."
Not much else said.

Why is Polian so highly thought of again? For drafting Peyton Manning?

I don't think that highly of him. I just like to hear what everyone says about the boys.

He also drafted Freeney who people said was too small and Reggie Wayne who people said wouldn't make it.

How come he never built a SB caliber defense to help Peyton?

He also built the Buffalo Bills SuperBowl teams in the 90s.

He did build a Super Bowl Caliber Team.....
3 realities that are hard to face:
1. My kid is stupid
2. I married the wrong person
3. My team sucks

I don't recalll people saying Freeney was too small.

If I recall correctly, Freeney was considered a back third of the 1st round guy, and part of that was due to his size.

Manning WAS the powerhouse as was evident last season...they will soon return to where they were pre Manning....Luck is not enough to save them in the near future

I was very unimpressed by Polian's last few years in Indy. He about killed that team. Peyton was the only thing keeping them afloat.

He had some big hits before that, but he was never able to do as much as I thought he should have.

I couldn't care less about what Polian has to say honestly... Jimmy Johnson > Bill Polian

Wait. So he's criticizing the Cowboys for Felix and Spencer not being "elite"? They were late 1st round picks. They are talking as if they were top 5 lottery picks.
