Default DMN: Dez Bryant: Because of injuries, I wasn't too proud of myself last season

IRVING -- Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant says he is the most comfortable he's been since the franchise selected him in the first round of the 2010 draft.

After improving statistically each of the last two seasons, Bryant says he expects the trend to continue in 2012.

"Each year was a learning process," Bryant said Wednesday. "It just got better and I felt like it's already much better than last year. I'm more into the film, not saying I wasn't into it the last two years."

Bryant added: "Each year I got better, from one to two, and I haven't played this year yet but I already feel much better. I'm confident in what I'm doing. When the coach calls out the play, I'm starting to have the play before he even calls it out. I'm getting better."

"It's little bit like the description of pornography from years back. It's hard to define it. But you know what it is at the end of it. It's hard to define it. I think you know who is more physical. Often times you see that in the fourth quarter. A lot of time the team on the other side feels it. We pride ourselves on being a physical football team. It's important to us. It's an important time of the year to lay that foundation." - Coach Garrett

Hopefully he realizes there are times where it makes sense to get down. All those extra hits he takes, is the reason he was banged up last season.

A lot of the players are taking more of a business approach this year. They are all at least saying the right things. Through the players I can tell Garrett has made his mark with this team. I really think it will pay dividends on the field.......also the strength coach seems like he has opened these players eyes to training and really what it takes to be in shape and endure a full football season. Healthier players could make the difference.

Funny... since he's never been. Until the near future, with teammates.

My favorite part:

He (Cowboys wide receivers coach Jimmy Robinson) added: "We obviously like what we have in him. He did a pretty good job last year when you look at the production, and he hasn't even come close to scratching the surface."

He has the potential of exploding the NFL's mind. Maybe not in terms of total yards, but in dominating fashion.

What Dez had to say makes it seem like he's really starting to get it. I've been of the opinion that Dez, now entering his 3rd NFL season, will have himself a break out year and this blog by Jon Machota makes me even more hopeful that will be the case.

I liked this part, too:
Improving strength and conditioning could also go a long way.

According to Bryant, that is also improving, thanks in large part to Cowboys strength and conditioning coach Mike Woicik.

"I see a big change in my weight, in my strength and everything," Bryant said. "Coach Woicik's doing a great job with us.
I feel way more explosive coming out of my cuts."

Better strength and conditioning could also help Bryant remain healthy for a longer part of the season.

He is in for a monster year. Just gotta protect his QB.

This is a team who is battling several major injuries to
key players including Pro Bowl talents like Lee, Austin, Jenkins, Murray,
Carter and Ratliff. Other key starters missing include Costa, Smith, Church and
Coleman. That is 11 key players - that's half the starting lineup. Yet we still went 8-8.
