I'm sorry to see him go down like this also. I hate to see when someone's dreams are ruined because of human fraility. I can emphathize.
But if there's a lesson in all this it's leave that powder alone.
So many kids are enticed into a life of drugs because they can't fight peer pressure or because they don't think they'll get hooked.
Long time ago, someone likely introduced Carter to drugs. And that little voice in his head probably said, "Don't do it. Don't do it."
All the while, another voice was probably saying, "Go ahead and try it. It aint gonna hurt. Everyone's doing it. Besides you can stop any time."
The latter voice won out. And now years down the road, the man has ruin a lucrative career. Who's to say that his level of play isn't related to his addiction.
Be sure your sins will find you out.
Or as Barney Fife would say, "Nip it in the bud."
