Ken Scott from Texas Tech is pretty good too ... not a lot of physical talent, but he's relentless, all day, high motor guy. Kind of a Chad Eaton type without the trash talking.
Since we're on Big 12 NTs... What about this Red Bryant from A&M? He's 6-5, 324, and was on the Sporting News All-American Freshman team with guys like Okam, Adrian Peterson, Sam Baker, and Ko Simpson. Also on the A&M Leadership Council. I haven't been able to find much on him, maybe partly because he's a junior.

Well lets just say Red Bryant requires double teams... needs to improve his pass rushing technique but he is solid against the run. I like what I've seen from him. Not sure if he is coming out this year though.

Alan Branch is more in the mold of a Spears and Seymour.

All the best NT are under 6'3 he is something like 6'6. He'd be a DE in a 3-4.

I agree... but I think BP would take a guy who he knew could command double teams before he would take a guy who couldn't do that but was a better pass rusher.

Do you think he's got the stones to play there?

The 2 aren't mutally exclusive. If he's big/strong enough to move the pile he'll get double teamed.

I understand that, but New England uses a 3-4 D, yet they have 4-3 packages. I don't see any reason to slavishly stick with the 3-4. Notice that the 4-3 teams are more successful rushing the passer. Chicago,Seattle,Philly, all those teams use the 4-3 and get it done.

I realize that... I'm simply saying I think BP puts more stock in a guy being strong at the point of attack and being able to command double teams over a NT who is a great pass rusher. It'd be great to have a guy who could do both, but if they WERE mutually exclusive, then I believe BP would go for the OL eater.
