STRENGTHS
Robert has good size, strength and speed for his position. He has great hands, will go after the ball in the air and fight for it. Robert shows decent quickness to go along with his speed and runs fine routes. He reminds me a lot of Rod Smith (WR Denver Broncos). He has that same type of quiet efficiency, mental strength and dependability to his game. Robert is a franchise WR. He is a WR you can build your passing game around. He has the speed to get deep, the size and strength to avoid being knocked off his route, the brains to adjust his route on the fly, the soft hands to catch the ball, the quickness in and out of his breaks and the “leadership by example” qualities that you look for in a franchise WR. He is a worker with talent just like Rod Smith was.
NEEDS TO IMPROVE [View Full Quote]More than anything else, Robert needs to build confidence in himself and his game on the field. This will come with repetitions and experience and should not be a big problem.
TALENT BOARD ROUND: 1
Robert is a hard worker and every time I saw him play this year, he improved from the game before. He improved doing the little things. He started to get lower when blocking, he was quicker off the line, he ran his routes with just a little bit more precision than the game before and he did all of this in spite of the QB position that was erratic to say the least. Robert is a franchise WR because of his talent and work ethic on the field. He is the only WR in this draft that improved from game to game and still is learning; I don’t believe he’s in for a shock at the next level. If Robert works out well at the combine, you are going to see some teams rate him above Calvin Johnson because, even though he is still learning the position, his game is more mature at this stage than Calvin’s is and he has as much athletic ability to impact as Calvin does. Personally, for me, Calvin and Robert will be in my top ten picks of this draft -- that’s how good their potential is to impact at the next level. I don’t know at what pick in this draft Robert will be drafted, but I do know this: this draft class has overall excellent talent, but a host of players coming out with character and work ethic issues. This is not the case for Robert.

That is a pretty glowing scouting report. If we go WR it will mean Terry Glenn will be a June cap saving cut. IMO.

I'd rather have Quentin Moses, Daymeion Huges, or Anthony Spencer.
If we go WR, I'd rather have Dwayne Bowe.

The receivers I like in the first (if we were to go that route) are: Jarrett, Meacham and Bowe.
The guy I'm not too high on is Ginn. Can't explain why, but I just have a gut feeling he'll be just ok at the next level.
Anyone know if this kid James Hardy declared for the draft? He' s this 6'7" sophomore from Indiana that I think was eligible. If he did, might be a project in the 3rd.

Wouldn't Anthony Spencer be the better pick, they still need another pass rusher.

Quinn wont drop to 4. No way QB guru John Gruden will let that happen.
If Dallas takes Meachem , I'll shart myself. Bowe is Better from LSU..
I wish Dallas would take another edge rusher and Spencer will be good.
No way Pats take Gonzalez or any receiver as they have DB issues already and Asante might be on the way out anyway. They will take DB and a LB

Moses had a very good week in practice at the Senior Bowl. There's the risk that he might be "lazy," but he's significantly more athletic than Spencer.
I sure would have liked to see Spencer practice and play in the SB.

But didn't Washington suffer a serious neck injury that was career threatening? I think that really screwed up his mindset.

Terrible idea!
I hope that does not happen.
We don't need a first round WR.
Glenn is still a top 10 receiver... runs good routes, best hands, more than respectable speed.
I don't believe in team motivation. I believe in getting a team prepared so it knows it will have the necessary confidence
when it steps on a field and be prepared to play a good game... Tom Landry

Why worry about a cap saving when Dallas is 20+ million under in a down talent year for free agents?
Add in that WR is one of the slower developing positions and that doesn't make sense.

If he's so good, why is he the 5th WR to go (according to Mel's board)?

my second round gems are suddenly in every mock's first round....: Aaron Ross, Anthony Spencer, Robert Meachem.
I wouldn't be upset with the Meachem pick, I would be upset though that we didn't get Spencer or Ross, or Jarrett. I also think Bowe is going to slip into the first round. Its looking like a very top-heavy draft IMO.
If Jarrett lasts this long, we would be silly not to move up a few spots to get him IMO.
I'd like to see a trade up for Jarrett OR...a trade down for Spencer (unless of course we get Adalius in FA). If we're truly bent on moving Henry to FS, which I really don't think we are, I'd like to see us trade down and take A Ross in the first. I could see us draft M Lynch if he falls to us, which wouldn't be unlikely, and trade JJ away, which I wouldn't object to (and he'll have value too since he's coming off an injury-free, 1000 yard season)
What I DON'T want to see is Sydney Rice with our first pick. I might live with Ginn but Rice is another Troy Willliamson IMO.
Still left to accomplish:
sign OT Winston or G Moore

Spencer beat a lot of OTs in practice but the big concern I have is that he beat them all with a good first step and speed off the edge. He didn't show a single rush move at all.
