Funny, every one of those bullet points Dooms heard from Wade Phillips are things we've read in the papers.
I'm sure that's just coincidence, though.

Shhhhhh....this is sweet insider stuff.
McQuistan tells me he prefers having hair as opposed to not - I kind of read into that that he's not a huge carrot top fan, but I haven't gotten my Carrot-Top DVD yet, so I can't say definitively.

It's a much deeper draft at inside linebacker, a position that was weak last year. Plus, every player like Spencer, Woodley, Moses and Moss said they prefer to play with their hand down and didn't seem to excited about switching to OLB. Jay Moore is one guy to watch. He's a player people think can make the switch and could be a nice pick in the third round area. I don't think you'll see a lot of 3-4 teams draft the DE/OLB guys high this year. At least that was the thinking at the Combine.
[View Full Quote]Also, a lot of people were talking about that Durrant kid from Hampton as being a real under-the-radar player. I can't say I know that much about him because my film on players just arrived today but his name came up a lot when I asked people about a possible sleeper.
I would rate almost all of those guys ahead of Lawson. I would rate Gaines ahead of Wimbley. Of course there isn't a Ware or a Merriman, but my goodness this is one stacked draft at the DE/OLB position.
The most common name I heard was LaRon Landry. Teams are drooling over him. Landry and Calvin Johnson are the two players most personnel guys think are the safest, can't miss prospects in this draft.

Wow, I had the opposite reaction. Woodley, Spencer, Moss, Moses, Gaines Adams (even though he's up there) are all legitimate first round talent 3-4 OLBs. Seriously, when has there every been a draft this stacked in 'tweeners?

About 80%+ of it was ripped straight from an interview with Phillips from a couple days ago.

Brian Robison is putting up some really great numbers today. I think his college production would have been better if he focused on football fulltime, but the last I heard he was still looking at competing for the 2008 Olympic spot in the discus/shotput and trying to play in the NFL at the same time.

I was at that exact interview and asked Wade a question. I then talked to him out in the hall as he was walking. If you don't believe me, that's fine. The mods here all know who I am and what I do. That's all that matters. I used to be a jealous fan too until I got my job, so I don't take it personal.
By the way, since I was at the Combine during the interview you are referring to, where did it say Roy Williams would blitz more and where is the talk about the safeties that I asked Wade one-on-one? If you can find that transcipt, please post it. Thank you. Like I said, this was just a little gabbing. Phillips didn't lay out his five-year plan for me. He was a nice guy that took the time to answer a couple of questions. I followed up on the Romo thing and asked him if he thought the team was settled at QB. Where is that in the transcipt? I never said it was earth shattering news. If anyone can post Wade saying anything about Carpenter playing on the edge or Williams blitzing more this year, please post it. I would love to see where I'm stealing this stuff from since I was the only person talking to him at the time. Also, if I was just a person who made things up, the mods would ask me to stop.
And by the way, reporters in Dallas get paid too. I'm sure they're asking similar questions. I doubt they're asking Wade what he thinks about the Bengals. The Internet, you gotta love it. It makes everyone an expert because they can type and get to a message board. For those of you that aren't jealous crybabies, you are welcome for the information. I take extra time out of my extremely busy day to try and get some Cowboys nuggets at the Combine and I figured many on this board would want to hear that info. That's all for now.

Forgive us jealous crybabies for our skepticism, but until you present anything that is at all worthwhile, or something that any of us couldn't just read ourselves in some JJT column, then come back on here and regurgitate as our own scoop, there's really no reason to get excited. Add in the fact that you were a complete to a guy who just wanted to share a story from when he met coach Phillips, and you deserve whatever crap we decide to dish out.
Until then, we'll look forward to more "Wade likes our team", "Dallas may or may not be interested in Norv" nuggets.

I like him a lot. Every time I saw a UT game, he was getting pressure on the QB.
Got to love the shot put and disc talent, too.
(And for you non-Texans, Aggies, etc -- no, I'm not a UT fan.)
Can he backpedal and move laterally well enough to play 34 OLB? I guess those are the numbers you are talking about?

No need to defend yourself to me (not that you were). But hey, thanks for the info and I'm glad to hear a little good news from anyone about the Cowboys.
