Blog My Quarterback Rankings

This is my Quarterback Rankings

1. JaMarcus Russell- Nice size, arm strength, accuracy, and a little mobility. He's mobility reminds me of Culpepper but has the arm of a Bryon Leftwich. He's my top player overall. Needs to stay consistent and stop hesitating from time to time.

2. Kevin Kolb - This guy has what it takes. I believe in two years or less this guy is a sure starter that could be really effective if he works on his mobility. He has a nice arm and good play reading ability that could take him along way in the NFL. He's the more safer pick at Quarterback but I think he's going to be from the 25 to 32 pick. I think he's going in the first round.

3. Brady Quinn - I feel as if his stock is really dropping because of the lack of performance in the combine and it is questions surrounding him about his arm strength. He might be this year's Aaron Rogers. I do think he's a sure bet for the first round. Overall Brady Quinn is a great leader that is proven on the college level and he has what it takes to be a starter in the NFL.

4. Drew Stanton - I think that after his combine and college skills workouts his stock is rising fast. His mobility is real good. His arm has been powerful and accurate. In two or three weeks he probably will be talked about as a possible late first round early second round draft choice.

5, Jordan Palmer - Is a raw quarterback that could be a gem. What he needs to work on is his footwork. He has an arm that could do some damage on the next level. With a good workout from the combine and his college pro day I think he's a mid-second to late third, basically a first day guy.

6. Troy Smith - Really doesn't have the typical size to be an Quarterback but haves the arm and tools to be a starter. With his lack of height it makes it complicated on the next level to get the ball over lineman like Chris Canty or Julius Peppers. In the NFL, Troy Smith probably will have to find alot of lanes to throw the ball. If committed I think he could eventually in a year or two be a starter. I think he will be drafted in the second to fourth round draft choice. he reminds me alot of Seneca Wallace.

7. Isaiah Stanback - This guy has great footwork and nice size. He has the arm that could stretch the field with good wide receivers. Accuracy is one of his main specialties. It would be a gamble to take him because he has had a serious foot injury that could reoccur. I say he's a day two pick but some team out there could take a chance on him in late day one.

8. Jordan Beck - Is limited with mobility but has the ability to read blitzes and all types of coverages. Cause of his adaquete size at 6-2 he get his balls batted down because he can't find a lane because the lack of good mobility. If he works on his mobility and footwork on the next level he could be a good quarterback for years to come.

9. Jared Zabransky- With his lack of size and accuracy he seems like an unpromising prospect. With his speed, quick release, and ability to read coverages he seems like he just one coach away from being successful on the NFL level. If he works hard at getting his accuracy together he could be a good prospect.

10. Jeff Rowe - Look as if he has what it takes to be an starter but being from a school like Neveda you have to ask yourself what type of competition he faced? I think he could be a sleeper pick that a team with an option to get an back-up that could be developed for a period amount of time. I believe if he's thrown in the fire he could handle himself.

k, 23 reps of 225 is a lack of performance in answering questions about his arm strength?

so i guess Larry Allen can throw the ball twice as far as quinn can, since arm strenght is determined on bench pressing.....

Who is Jordan Beck? There is a LB who plays for Atlanta named Jordan Beck. If you mean John Beck of BYU, I don't see how he could be number 8 behind the likes of Troy Smith, Jordan Palmer or Isaiah Stanbeck. You say in your post that Stanbeck has great footwork and that accuracy is on of his main specialties. I guess I don't know what you mean by either of these statements. His mechanices leave a great deal to be desired IMO and he's only a 51.4 completion percentage passer for his entire career at Washington. His best season was his Jr. season where he passed for 54.2%. He is a good athlete, no question, but he has not proven that he can be a good QB, even in college IMO. Smith has not shown well at any of the All Star games or at the Combine IMO. No way has he shown better then Beck IMO. Palmer has all the tools but none of the performance to substantiate a higher ranking then Beck IMO. The only three QBs you might say could grade out better then Beck at this point, IMO, are Quinn, Russell and perhaps Stanton. At this point, Beck might be the third best QB. Rowe, as an aside is moving up on many draft boards. Will be interesting to see what happens with him.

Quinn is the most ready to play. russel is dazzling people with his size and arm strength- but talk to a lot of LSU fans and they will tell you that he was only really good this year, and had some bad games that many seem to want to forget. Its noticeable that all the hype you here comes from columnists- not all that many scouts/coaches are making noise about him. Kolb is this years combine king- looking at how he played and no way is he that high on the charts. Stanton is probably the #3 QB- but his record as a player shows him to be real streaky- either really good or really bad. Palmer throws too many picks- he is a Favre wannabe. Smith has got that size problem- and memories of his meltdown against Florida in the one game that he was under pressure all the time.

Russell is reminding me of Carson Palmer when he came out of college. Palmer looked average at USC until his last season. Maybe Russell will continue to improve like Palmer did. Maybe not.

Quinn should be number 2. The hesiman winner Troy Smith is number three and just because he lost in the Big game doesn't mean it was his fault, his defense and O-line weren't doing that great either.

Point about Smith was that the one game last season when he was under heavy pressure he was totally PUTRID. His line protected him all season long- and then they couldn't and he looked about as bad as Rothlisburger did in the SB; actually worse. Say what you want about Quinn, he was used to pressure since his line sucked all season long. Thats another thing about Russell- he really had no games where he was under constant pressure; that is when you find out what a QB is made of.

If I were drafting a QB. Troy Smith wouldn't even be on the radar unless he was all that was left. If I were to draft him, it wouldn't be as a QB.
Formerly the notorious nyc!

I've got more red flags than Soviet Russia!

There is a good chance that you don't like me, but there is a better chance that I don't care.

If I'm not insulting you, I'm probably not aware that you exist.

Jerry Jones in the draft room is suicide on the football field. The line of scrimmage is EVERYTHING. Something Jerry doesn't understand.

Common Sense would tell you Im talking about a Quarterback instead of a linebacker.

So yeah, you know if you're going to try and make a sarcastic remark to try and make me look foolish, it's usually not good if you use logic that's stupider than what I said originally.

Anyway, he said Quinn had a lack of performance in the combine with regards to his arm strength mainly. So getting 23 reps at the combine somehow HURTS your stock at arm strength and is considered a lack of performance? Use your brain idiot.

People want to see this guy in the combine for his draft stock could stay the same or increase. He's not really doing anything to be a 1st pick. I think not performing in the combine is really hurting his draft stock.

Yeah like the other guy said bench press is something but it really doesn't mean anything if you can't show more skills.

Look at DeMarcus Tyler he bench press 225, 42 times. Does that mean he has a stronger arm than Vick, No!.
