Blog DeMarcus Taylor (Cowboys 1st rd if decided to trade down)

DeMarcus Tyler
Bench Press 225:: 42 times

DT, NC State

War Room analysis

Against the run: Consistently stands his ground against one-on-one blocks. Sheds blocks quickly, and makes tackles on runs at him. Shoots gaps, and makes plays in the backfield. Is good at accelerating to full speed and chasing down running backs outside. Grade: 8.0

Pass rush: Consistently is the first defensive lineman moving at the snap, and pounces on offensive linemen before they get set. Bursts off the snap to get underneath blockers and drive them into the quarterback. Has a variety of quick moves. Pressures quarterbacks consistently. Grade: 8.5

Initial quickness: Moves quickly at the snap, allowing him to defeat offensive linemen in a variety of ways. Gets underneath reach blocks, chases running backs on plays away from him and shoots gaps to blow up plays in the backfield. Grade: 9.0

Run/pass recognition: Diagnosis plays quickly, and has the speed and burst to make the play. Rarely gets fooled by play-action fakes or misdirection runs; makes a lot of play while teammates are lost. Grade: 8.0
Pursuit/tackling: Gets a good jump, and shows the burst to finish the play. Is athletic enough to make tackles on the move, but occasionally runs too upright in pursuit and overruns the ball. Grade: 7.5

I think we should consider tank tyler if a few other guys are off the board. His strength was really impressive.

I really don't like the thought of grabbing a DT with our first pick, unless we've traded down into the top of the 2nd round and picked up something significant in return. We got bigger needs than a backup/rotational player with our first pick.

Ya, this draft is actually kinda deep at positions of need for the cowboys, one of which being DT. And while it's pretty deep at receivers too, I think it'd be really tough to not take Dwayne Bowe or Robert Meachem at 22.

Actually I like this pick, he is a beast and would be a good 3-4 NT. I thought he was rated higher and now seems to have dropped to rd 2. Levi Brown would be a great pick up, He might fall, probably not past the Giants.

This guy isn't only a Defensive Tackle, he's an pass-rushing defensive tackle. This is what we missing in Jason Fergurson. I believe since Bill Parcells is gone now, he should take his over-the-hill gang with him. Let's go younger.

I like this guy cause he knows how to get to the Quarterback.

Arrested for swinging at a cop/public intoxication.

Suspended for spitting at official.

Compares to Tank Johnson on and off the field.

Give me some of that in the first round.

But since you're not capable....

Not to confuse you, but Tank and DeMarcus Tyler are the same person.

Doesn't matter I think this kid is going to be good and I think if we trade down to aquire more picks he should be our first round.

Yeah he is great for the 10% of the plays per game he actually tries on.

No motor criminals make great first round picks.
