What am I wrong about? speaking reality? let's not get off the subject here...the NFC was weak last year, dont get excited about inflated numbers against weak teams...what happened when we played good teams? when it counted, when it mattered we couldnt pull it off!

You mean like when we beat the Super Bowl champions and only gave up 1 sack?

wouldn't it be "speaking the truth?". and the NFC was weak in 03, since then it has become drastically stronger.
yeah good teams we couldn't beat them
i'll argue with you more after i get home from work

that was good but they were faultering on defense at that time... in order to truely analyze something you have to look at the state of both teams...they couldnt do anything on defense at that point...they were too worried about the run to get a sack.

You don't think our offensive line suffered from having to come from behind in all those games late in the season? That was the defense's fault and the offense was forced to be one dimensional (pass heavy) to try to catch back up... therefore, it makes it MUCH MUCH harder for the OLine because the defense knows they can just go all out on the pass rush and not worry about the run.

if the O line was dominant we would have been able to run it down their throats from the get go...therefore keeping our defense off the field, thereby keeping them rested, thereby helping the whole situation...if you can run the ball you change the game...we couldnt, not like bp wanted to...why? ask yourself that? Our offensive line did have serious issues early in the season. With the addition of so many new parts, it was inevitable that was going to happen. I agree with STS to the extent that our guys wore down some late in the season. I believe the addition of Davis and hopefully the young guys maturing and improving will help that as well.
All of that being said, we are significantly better off than we were last season. Injuries, as always, can change that but for now we are improved. STS, what else do you want the Cowboys to do? They should target more OL depth in the draft and I expect that to happen.

STSINAZ - Did someone pee in your Wheaties this morning?
This is a team who is battling several major injuries to
key players including Pro Bowl talents like Lee, Austin, Jenkins, Murray,
Carter and Ratliff. Other key starters missing include Costa, Smith, Church and
Coleman. That is 11 key players - that's half the starting lineup. Yet we still went 8-8.

Nobody is arguing that bud.........
nobody has said the oline was dominant or even VERY good. The only things that's being said is that it was not AS BAD as you described and that we ARE BETTER by having picked up Davis and re-signing Colombo and Flozell being fully healthy to workout during the offseason.

You are a special kind of delusional...
I'll admit TO *could* be out, but there's been no reliable indication that's going to happen. But Key coming back?? Without BP here??

I disagree. I've watched each game 2 or 3 times each by now.
Rivera was a tremendously weak link on the OLine. We missed a 3rd and 1 play because Rivera's man just pushed him aside like a ragdoll and collapsed the entire line where Barber was headed. There were numerous times he was pushed back into Romo's lap while Romo was trying to throw. Also look at the other times when Romo had to scramble because Rivera's man broke free. Remember how for a long time there Romo's passer rating was extremely high when he was throwing from OUTSIDE the pocket?... well he was outside the pocket because pressure was coming from up the middle and usually from Rivera's side.
Colombo is a GOOD RT. At 1 point in the season (AFTER the Giants game 1... Parcells said in his PC that Colombo had yet to give up a single sack all season). I honestly don't recall Colombo requiring a lot of help... consider the fact that ALL of the chop blocking penalties our RB's picked up were committed on the LEFT side of the line.. meaning they were helping our left side primarily. Add in the fact that Colombo did have to face some of the best pass rushers we faced (Peppers and Strahan) and it makes sense that he would need some help at times... but I never got the feeling we couldn't send Witten out in routes because Colombo was a liability.
Davis will be a very good RG.
Gurode is a GOOD center.. the problem he had previously is that they were trying to have him play Center and Guard and he wound up having trouble with the mental side of learning 2 positions from what I saw.
Kosier was a pretty good LG for us... the only times he really had any trouble were on DLine stunts (especially against Philly) because he has a tendency to put his face right on the person he's blocking and didn't see the stunting lineman.
Flozell was better later in the season than he was early on... this is entirely because of the knee injury. I don't recall seeing any reports of the Cowboys staff being concerned about his knee... where did you hear that? Flo's got a full offseason to get in shape and regain his strength that was lost when he couldn't workout because of the knee injury.
It only makes sense that we can afford to be optimistic about this oline. We KNOW who our starting LT and RT's are going to be heading into training camp... last year, they were both questions... heck everyone thought it would be Pettiti till he got cut. Even Center was a question mark between Gurode and Johnson. At least now we have ALL of the same players returning except 1... good teamwork is of utmost importance on the oline and that's tough to achieve when you're going to through linemen like its musical chair every season.
