2007 NFL Mock Draft

1. Oakland Raiders

JaMarcus Russell, QB, LSU -- He has the big arm for Al Davis' vertical passing attack. Plus, the Raiders are desperate for a QB. But how can you pass up Calvin Johnson? Raiders will.

2. Detroit Lions

Calvin Johnson, WR, Georgia Tech -- He's the best player in this draft. So the Lions took three WRs with their last four No. 1s. They can't pass up this guy ... can they?

3. Cleveland Browns

Adrian Peterson, RB, Okahoma -- Best running back in years. Reminds some people of Eric Dickerson. The Browns are desperate at the position, and Jamal Lewis isn't the answer.

4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Joe Thomas, T, Wisconsin -- Bucs were hoping Calvin Johnson slipped to him, but he's too good to last this long. So they find some protection for their QBs.

5. Arizona Cardinals

Gaines Adams, DE, Clemson -- Could take Alan Branch, too. Adams can play in a 3-4 or 4-3 and has the speed to reach the pocket. Those guys are hard to find.

6. Washington Redskins

Alan Branch, DT, Michigan -- Intimidating presence in the middle and perfect partner for Cornelius Griffin. Would consider a top DE at this position, too.

7. Minnesota Vikings

Brady Quinn, QB, Notre Dame -- Vikes would do cartwheels if Quinn were available this far down the board. So they have Tarvaris Jackson. You honestly think he's the next starter? Neither do I.

8. Houston Texans

Amobi Okoye, DT, Louisville -- The most intriguing guy in this draft. He's 19 but scouts marvel at his poise. Makes big plays inside and should make an immediate impact.

9. Miami Dolphins

Levi Brown, T, Penn State -- A mauler at the left-tackle position. Face it, the Phins need help protecting Daunte Culpepper. This guy is the ticket.

10. Atlanta Falcons

Jamaal Anderson, DE, Arkansas -- With Patrick Kerney gone, Falcons looking for speed off the edge. Next to Adams, this is the best DE out there.

11. San Francisco 49ers

Patrick Willis, LB, Mississippi -- Mike Nolan knows you can't allow 412 points and win. So he rebuilds his defense with the best MLB on the board.

12. Buffalo Bills

Leon Hall, CB, Michigan -- If Okoye were there, the Bills would jump. But he should be gone. That means Buffalo looks for a Nate Clements' replacement. This is your guy.

13. St. Louis Rams

Dwayne Jarrett, WR, USC -- Isaac Bruce is near the end, and Drew Bennett isn't the necessary fix. So the Rams look for more offense with the big, physical Jarrett.

14. Carolina Panthers

Ted Ginn Jr., WR, Ohio State -- Panthers have been looking for the deep speed to complement Steve Smith. Well, here it is. Plus, Ginn can return kicks.

15. Pittsburgh Steelers

Charles Johnson, DE, Georgia -- With Joey Porter out of the picture, the Steelers will be looking for an outside pass rush. Johnson could be the guy.

16. Green Bay Packers

Marshawn Lynch, RB, California -- No Ahman Green means the Pack needs help at RB. Lynch is the second back in this draft, with astounding credentials.

17. Jacksonville Jaguars

Jarvis Moss, DE, Florida -- He's a terrific pass rusher who can play in a 3-4 or 4-3. Speed is the attraction here. Plus, Moss is a great special-teams performer.

18. Cincinnati Bengals

Darrelle Revis, CB, Pittsburgh -- The Bengals need help almost everywhere on defense, but you can start at CB where Revis would fit in nicely with Jonathan Joseph.

19. Tennessee Titans

Robert Meachem, WR, Tennessee -- Somebody has to catch Vince Young's passes. The Titans invest in Young's future by finding him wide receivers -- and they don't have to look far for Meachem.

20. New York Giants

Lawrence Timmons, LB, Florida State -- They waived two of their three starting linebackers, so, yes, there's a need. Timmons is raw, but he has great speed and quickness.

21. Denver Broncos

Adam Carriker, DE, Nebraska -- He can play the 3-4 or the 4-3, and he's solid. Great effort guy who would fit in with a team that needs a pass rush.

22. Dallas Cowboys

LaRon Landry, S, LSU -- This is probably too low for Landry, who could be a top 15-choice. All I know is he doesn't get past the Cowboys.

23. Kansas City Chiefs

Dwayne Bowe, WR, LSU -- At some point the Chiefs must find a WR and stop counting on Tony Gonzalez for big catches. I know their track record isn't good with WRs, but Bowe is a safe choice.

24. New England Patriots (from Seattle)

Reggie Nelson, S, Florida -- Pats' secondary keeps getting crippled, so it's time to start finding young talent. With Rodney Harrison near the end, Nelson is an ideal choice.

25. N.Y. Jets

Greg Olsen, TE, Miami -- A great combine solidified his standing as the No. 1 tight end. The Jets have a a need at the position, with Olsen serving as a solid middle-range target.

26. Philadelphia Eagles

Paul Posluszny, LB, Penn State -- Could go for a safety, but let's be honest: They're desperate for outside linebackers. That means the Eagles look for the best one out there. This is the guy.

27. New Orleans Saints

Chris Houston, CB, Arkansas -- The unheralded Houston is a great cover corner who keeps moving up the draft board. His speed and man-to-man abilities make him a first-round pick.

28. New England Patriots

Anthony Spencer, LB/DE, Purdue -- Great speed and explosion off the edge. So the Patriots just got some with Adalius Thomas. They can get more with Spencer, who's perfect for a 3-4.

29. Baltimore Ravens

Justin Blalock, T/G, Texas -- The Ravens just lost one tackle and could lose another. They also cut a guard. There are vacancies everywhere on the OL, and Blalock can fill more than one of them.

30. San Diego Chargers

Brandon Meriweather, S, Miami -- The loss of Terrence Kiel creates an opening at safety the Bolts must fill. Michael Griffin is a possibility; so is Meriweather, whom some compare to Ed Reed.

31. Chicago Bears

Michael Bush, RB, Louisville -- This is strictly on a need basis. The trade of Thomas Jones means the Bears can look for Cedric Benson's backup partner.

32. Indianapolis Colts

Jon Beason, LB, Miami -- So he's undersized. That's perfect for Tony Dungy's defense. He replaces Cato June, expected to leave soon as a free agent.

Sure he does...they are not running the old Rams offense anymore, hence the signing of the bigger Bennett and the loses of McDonald and Curtis.

last I checked they still have Torry Holt and Isaac Bruce

and in any event, that wasn't my main point, the D needs alot of help, esp. the secondary, no way they pass on Landry

No, you said Jarrett was wrong for their offense, not that they had Holt and Bruce.

I'm one of the biggest LSU fans out there, but even I know that it'll take a repeat of the Steven Jackson or Randy Moss type slides for that to happen. UNluckily, Landry doesn't have the injury or bad vibe clouds floating over him as the aforementioned players did.
