For the season, it's probably Jeffcoat with 14.
All time, it's probably Ed "Too Tall" Jones.

Martin holds the "unofficial" (even though they were real sacks that can be witnessed by watching tapes of the games) team record for sacks in all 3 cateogies - rookie year, season, and career. Go back and review the article I posted.
I agree with you about the great Deacon Jones, but I was only talking about Cowboy team records.

Jeffcoat played with lots of different lines. When he broke in, it was White, Too Tall and John Dutton. In the late 80s, it was guys like Dean Hamel, Willie Broughton, Tony Tolbert and Danny Noonan. In the early 90s, it was Stubbs, Tolbert, Jones and Noonan. By the time 93 rolled around, it was Tolbert, Jones, Haley, Maryland and Casillas and Lett. In 95, he was traded to Buffalo.

Harvey Martin (I met him in person) was a great player...and those glasses he wore after games made him look really like a cartoon person! Wonderful man!
Trivia questions like this are hard to substantiate...(sp)...

Wasn't meant to be a trick question, as they were real sacks. However, I'm glad it gave us a brief moment to reflect on the great play of Harvey Martin. That's neat that you met him in person. He was one cool cat.
Sadly he took a wrong turn after football with drugs, but he ridded himselves of those demons and was clean for last few years of his life. Tragically he died at the early age of 51.

There's no way to tell who really holds those records. Nobody kept stats on guys like Lilly, Cole, Pugh, Andrie or even Too Tall in the early days. Just too hard to say. One thing though, DeMarcus Ware is going to reck those career stats. Also, I was wrong on the official Rookie record. I think I said 7.5 for rookies, don't remember. Ware had 8 his rookie year.

It was Martin but it was Texas Stadium in the final regular season game of 1979.

Nate was an intimating player on the field, but off, he was a gentle giant...and there is no doubt in my mind that Haley knew enough to not mess with him! And, although I might be in the minority...I absoutely admired Charles Haley...
