If I'm going to get just one, which is the one to get? Opinions?

Honest answer, idk. I am not too much of a draftnick - I always just grab one at an airport at some point in March when I will be flying.

Actually I have Lindy's but have read TSN's and PFW's as well, go with TSN, their pages are much more informative and Lindy's although decent looks akward with some of the postion ratings and slotting some people......they have a few who I think are horrible rated in the 2nd round like Tony Hunt and they have Steve Smith in the 4th as well.

Sporting News' newsstand version is a nice read for the money ($8). If I had to pick one, that's probably it.

I use to really like Pro Football Weekly's guide until Joel Buschbaum died.

It hasn't been the same since.

I have Lindy's and Sporting News and their opinions on some prospects differ greatly - it will be interesting to see who turns out to be right.

A nice read?

Sorry, any publication that ranks Kevin Kolb over Brady Quinn is not worth to rip the pages out to use as a bum wipe.

That's what's nice about holding onto them for a few years. To see who's right and who's wrong.

Ryan Leaf was once highly-ranked too.

As was Joey Harrington.

Neither worked out too well.

There's plenty of speculation and a good bit of luck involved in the draft.

No, the Sporting News has Brady Quinn rated as a third round talent behind Kevin Kolb. Pro Football Weekly has him rated number one.

I really have no problem thinking he's going to be a flop. That's valid speculation and takes fortitude to publish. That might be the point as it could sell the magazine better.

I just cannot see how Kolb can be anything close to being superior. A lot of people don't follow college football closely and rely on these magazines. I just don't care for misleading opinion. But I know it is not about that, it is about selling the magazine.

They certainly have an agenda regarding Quinn.

They made him their cover boy and then called him the "biggest risk".

Do any of these guides have our updated F/A signings?

In past years I've bought multiple guides early and have had arguments w/ friends on draft day, because the draft guide has us picking up a certain position in the draft, but since we already addressed this position in free agency...

I try to explain, but they think the draft guide writers know all.

This year I wanted to wait for a newer more accurate release.

They will probably never release one late enough.

That would cost valuable sales.

It's really up to the reader to be even more informed.

Most people don't get into the draft very much, if at all, and that is who these publications are geared towards.

The best draft preview is not a publication. It's called the NFL Network. It started with complete coverage of the NFL scouting combine. Their "Path To The Draft" show is nothing short of awesome. They also have coverage of college pro days. The one on LSU was very good. As an draftnic from waaaaaaaay back, the information I get from the NFL Network is far better and more current than any draft publication. In fact, when I was at the book store the other day I scanned a few and looked at the price and thought NO WAY!!!

This is a team who is battling several major injuries to
key players including Pro Bowl talents like Lee, Austin, Jenkins, Murray,
Carter and Ratliff. Other key starters missing include Costa, Smith, Church and
Coleman. That is 11 key players - that's half the starting lineup. Yet we still went 8-8.

I thumbed through a couple at Books a Million the other day. Some of them have irresponsible writing. One (I wish I could remember which one) in the team analysis section listed our Fb as Oliver Ross instead of Hoyte. Needless to say, i did not buy it.
