Default Hawaii DE Ikaika Alama-Francis Pro-Day

this guy is a prototypical 3-4 DE

6'5" 276

4.85 and 4.88 40
35" vertical
9'6" long-jump
7.31 3-cone drill
4.62 short-shuttle

really looked good in positional drills as well as looking good in TE drills, so is obviously athletic

The Patriots staff actually flew to Hawaii to talk to his teachers, coaches, etc. I think we're set at the DE position. I don't think he's "prototypical," but he could certainly get there. I'd be worried he's topped out his weight though. He's gained 50 pounds in the past two years. He might not be able to get up to 295 and stay there.

I think so too, I was just curious to see how he would work out since he skipped most of the drills at the Combine

Sweet Merriman!

50 lbs in 2 years? I'm sure he's clean. Someone probably slipped some HGH in his Ben Gay.

What is it with you Bob?

You think all tall guys can just pack on weight? It doesn't work like that.

being 6'5" means you have a tall-frame, which means you can add weight to fill it

it's science man, not a fetish

and that's why w/ draft prospects who stand over 6'1" you hear, "and they still have the frame to add weight"

He didn't lift at his pro day because of the injured Pec but he previously threw up 37 reps on the bench. That's pretty good right there.

Bob that is a gross over-simplification.

Not all body types can just "pack-on-weight" according to the "Bob Sacamano Rule of Thumb".

Compare Charles Haley/Reggies White... both were the same height. I doubt Haley ever played at a weight greater than 250. Consequently Reggie White played around 290.

But your "generalizations" about height/weight are just... too general.

dude, the only way to tell if a player can, or cannot, add more weight, is to have their DNA sample, so I go by the rule of thumb that a tall prospect, who's still growing by the way, can add more weight to his frame, it's not a definite, but it's very possible

again, when looking at scouting reports, tall players are listed as having the ability to add more weight, and remember BIll not wanting to take top-heavy players because he said they tend to add more weight as they mature?

btw, Haley probably stayed at 250 to keep his speed
