2008 Draft
I am still not sold on a backup for Ferguson. I also feel that we need to look at the WR and CB position. I am also not sold on our FB position and there are 2 really good ones possibly entering next year's draft.
Here are some players to keep an eye on in 2008
DEFENSIVE TACKLE
Frank Okam - Texas - 6'5 320 5.00
Red Bryant - Texas A&M - 6'5 324 5.08
B.J. Raji - Boston College - 6'1 340 5.24 (short and heavy, great assets for a run stuffer)
Dre Moore - Maryland - 6'4 311 4.82 (this guy intrigues me the most)
Marcus Harrison - Arkansas - 6'3 310 4.98
CORNERBACK
Antoine Cason - Arizona - 6'0 182 4.39
Paul Oliver - Georgia - 6'0 201 4.38
Zack Bowman - Nebraska - 6'2 195 4.42
Dwight Lowery - San Jose St - 6'1 185 4.38 (supposedly he is an INT machine)
Terrell Thomas - USC - 6'1 200 4.40
Trae Williams - South Florida - 5'10 185 4.39
WIDE RECEIVER
DeSean Jackson - Cal - 6'0 178 4.32
Mario Manningham - Michigan - 6'0 185 4.48 (He is a bad bad man)
Early Doucet - LSU - 6'0 205 4.49
D.J. Hall - Alabama - 6'3 190 4.48
FULLBACK
Javorskie Lane - Texas A&M - 6'0 268 4.90 (RB in a FB body)
Peyton Hillis - Arkansas - 6'2 240 4.78 (reminds me of Moose)
LINEBACKER
James Laurinaitis - Ohio St - 6'3 244 4.52
Jasper Brinkley - South Carolina - 6'2 257 4.58

I doubt we look at any LBs on day 1. And it seems we are destined to never draft a NT

Im not saying we will draft one...but Laurinaitis is a beast. He is all over the field making plays.

Sweed I believe.
Going into next year I expect us to need a RB, b/c Jones will be gone.
A WR, b/c Owens and Glenn will probably be in their last years, hopefully Crayton will be resigned.
A NT b/c Ferguson will be 78
And a corner, b/c Glenn will be too old, and Anthony Henry will probably be moved to safety if neither Hamlin or Watkins step up.

I thought Paul Oliver is coming out in the supplemental draft this year? Is it him or someone else I'm thing of?

Limas Sweed... he is, IMO, the second coming of Keyshawn Johnson...

Prior to this year I didn't think it was going to happen but for the first time it was officially mentioned as a possibility. If neither Hamlin or Watkins step up, and when we're drafting there's a corner staring at us, I think we'll take him and move Henry to FS. Remember that will be the final year of his contract as well, so if he doesn't work, then we'll get someone else.

I thought we had a real need for a CB this year and wanted Ross (since Hall & Revis would be gone) but drafting Spencer to give us the pass rush we desperately need is okay with me, particularly since we also get Browns first rounder.
If there is any chance at McFadden, Jerry Jones will go after him. Of course, if Garrett does utilize Julius Jones in variety of receiving options and outside runs/screens, and Jones really steps it up, then it will be a real interesting decision for Jerry.
Ideally, Julius has a fantastic season in Garrett's offense (as well MBIII) and racks up 1600+ running yards & 3-400 in passing yards along with 12+ TDs then what does Jerry do?
If and admittedly that's a big IF, we don't need another RB & Romo is the player we hope for, you better believe we'll probably use our first 2 rounders on a WR & CB -- probably Jackson & Caison although Oliver could be the man. Last I heard Paul Oliver considering coming out in supplemental but haven't heard anything more then that. Would Cowboys be willing to give up a 2nd rounder for him in the supplemental?

IF JuJo makes that kind of statement next year, then I would sign him; wheel and deal w/ our pick from Cleveland & pick-up more picks.
I think Oliver would have a 1st round grade next year if he had stayed in college. Picking him up w/ a 2nd rounder would be excellent value and I would do it. I do not think a talent like his would be available w/ our 2nd rounder in next year's draft so we should try and get him in the upcoming supplemental.
2011 Cowboys modus operandi :

I would love to see us have a top 3 pick with Romo and Julius doing well and staying with us. We can then trade back to pick up a 2nd rounder and then pick the CB(Cason), WR(Sweed), and DT(Okam). Maybe use our later picks to trade up

The beatuy of having a top pick and a great team is you can take a less than value deal that involves a 1rst next year, like the pats did. If we end of with a top pick we can easily drop down a few spots and take only a first next year with the hope of getting another elite player.
