Mike Hamlin chased Terry Kinard's greatness as a college player at Clemson. He'd love to have the chance to chase him now as a pro.

Hamlin intercepted six passes in 2008 to push his career count to 14 and also recovered four fumbles. That gave him 18 career takeaways, one short of Kinard's school record 19. Kinard became an All-America and a first-round draft choice of the New York Giants in 1983. He played seven seasons with the Giants, intercepted 27 passes and won a Super Bowl ring.

"He's a legend," Hamlin said. "Any time you mention safeties at Clemson, he's the man. They retired his jersey. He's respected by everybody. It would have been an honor for me to break his record. But just being mentioned in the same breath with him is an honor for me."

Hamlin (6-2, 214) started a school-record 43 games at Clemson and was a two-year captain and two-time All-ACC safety. He left Clemson with 326 tackles and a degree in management. He projects as a mid-round draft pick.

Just kidding because of Kinard playing for Parcells' Giants teams.

Okay, half-kidding.
