Default FWST: Williams says Cowboys receivers can be among NFL's best (NOTES)

Posted Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2010

OXNARD, Calif. -- Although at some point, the Cowboys offense will need to show a pulse, there is little doubt in training camp that when the regular season begins, gaining yards will be even easier this year than last.

The Cowboys ranked second behind New Orleans in yards gained, but their difficulty in scoring has been well documented. With an average of 22.6 points a game, the Cowboys were only the 14th highest scoring team in the league.

Roy Williams is confident the Cowboys can take better advantage of scoring opportunities, and believes that with the addition of rookie receiver Dez Bryant, the Cowboys can potentially have one of the best receiving corps in NFL history.
"We could be like the '98 Vikings, if you want to compare," Williams said, "with Randy Moss, Cris Carter and Jake Reed with Robert Smith in the backfield, and just going out there and doing great things."

Thank you to all donated to the Jason Witten Camp drive!

Would that make Roy the Jake Reed of the group?

Love our WRs, but we're no 98 Vikings. Those guys were insane.

We do have the better QB, though.
When asked whether Jason Garrett is the right head coach for this team: "I don't think there is anyone else that could. I think he is an unbelievable coach. We've responded to him and he has made us better football players, better people. If you watch us I think we play with a certain relentless spirit." --Sean Lee

to the CowboysZone!!!!!!!!

This is a team who is battling several major injuries to
key players including Pro Bowl talents like Lee, Austin, Jenkins, Murray,
Carter and Ratliff. Other key starters missing include Costa, Smith, Church and
Coleman. That is 11 key players - that's half the starting lineup. Yet we still went 8-8.

Let's hope their fate is better than the 98 Vikings'.
